Overview – Education

The Yuki Teikei Haiku Society (YTHS) was established by the founders, Kiyoshi and Kiyoko Tokutomi, to encourage the creation and appreciation of traditional yuki teikei (有季定型) haiku and to promote its evolution in the English language.

In order to further this objective, the Society has developed a series of video chats on how to write haiku. Books and essays on haiku-writing and in support of haiku writers are also discussed on the pages provided. Teachers may find this information useful for developing lessons on haiku-writing for their classrooms. The Society has also developed a process whereby accomplished members can apply to become Dojin of YTHS. Here is the link. See the Current News for the Dojin application period and announcements of new YTHS Dojin.

Also offered here are links to other websites that contain useful information and opportunities to learn more about the world of haiku.
