Zigzag of the Dragonfly: Writing the Haiku Way by Patricia J. Machmiller

This book is about how to write haiku: it encourages writing daily and offers insight into the writing process. It also discusses in depth the elements of haiku craft: kigo, form, juxtaposition, image, and sound. It teaches a practice through which the reader can find a new way of seeing, a new way of appreciating, and a new way of being. Through learning to write haiku the reader comes to appreciate sparseness and grace and a cordial openness to the universe. In this book haiku is the teacher. This book is available for purchase at the YTHS Store.
