Bring peanut-free food to all potluck sharing at in-person events, please! For additional information (directions and details for events at private homes) call Patricia Machmiller: 408-225-4946.

As pandemic precautions are relaxed, we hope to have more YTHS gatherings in person.

But we will still hold some meetings on Zoom to include our members who are far afield. Zoom links for remote events will be sent out to YTHS members prior to the event date and time.

Submission deadline for two unpublished haiku on the theme “The Poet’s Journey” to be included in a performance piece by kyogen master Ellen Brooks in YTHS 50th Anniversary events (members only). Details in the 2024 November/Autumn issue of Geppo.

Mark your calendar for this year’s Spring Reading organized by Roger Abe, YTHS dōjin, and featuring current and past Geppo editors:

as well as a reading of selected haiku by former Geppo editors who have passed or are unable to attend. This year’s event will be in person and on Zoom from 5:00–7:00 PM Pacific Time. The in-person event will be held at Works/San Jose, 38 South Second Street, San Jose, CA, with doors opening at 4:30 PM. The entrance to a public parking garage is located at 25 South Third Street.

Please RSVP for the in-person Spring Reading by emailing Roger Abe at rogerakio@gmail.com by April 10, 2025. Please indicate if you will be bringing guests and include the total number in your party. A Zoom link will be emailed to all YTHS members prior to the event.

The YTHS 50th Year Dinner Celebration will be at the Okayama Room at the Leininger Center, 1300 Senter Road, San Jose, CA, on May 10, 2025, from 3:00–7:00 PM. We have a special day planned. Ellen Brooks, a kyogen master, will perform “The Poet’s Journey,” which she is creating using members’ haiku.

Geppo editors will give a reading from Best of Geppo over the years; attendees will receive the publication as an anniversary gift; and we will have a special bento box dinner with an anniversary cake for dessert. Please RSVP to Alison Woolpert by April 10 at awool@cruzio.com.
